Skills pay the bills.

I love getting my hands on new courses and content. I’ve spent more than I’d care to admit on online classes. Some have been helpful, and others are utter trash.

Sometimes, there is some free content out there that is valuable and actionable. So good, in fact, you can almost immediately see a return on your investment of time. And even make some extra money.

This year has taught us all to diversify and grow our income. At the same time, many are unable to purchase courses for hundreds of dollars.

The five courses I mention below are free.

Taking action on these 3 questions can make life so much sweeter.

As the song goes, Cash Rules Everything Around Me.

Yes, I know. We need to get the money. Once you build wealth, you can funnel it into other parts of your life.

Everyone’s focused on the money to the point where it’s getting stressful, overwhelming, and downright annoying.

For example, my Medium feed has turned into a circle jerk of “How I Made $10,000 in 30 Days Freelancing” or “How I Created 10 Passive Income Streams In 12 Months.”

Their goal is not to be clickbait but to “inspire” and “motivate” you to take action. But these articles only succeed…

Start thinking about creating a long-term asset.

When I started freelancing, I had no idea how difficult it would be. You’re always thinking about where your next client will come from or if you’ll get scammed. There are times where you’ll bite off more than you could chew and other times, you’ll experience some scope creep.

On the flip side, you can craft your own workday. You can build your own career ladder. And in time, you can increase your rates to match your expertise.

With both the pros and cons, one thing’s for sure, it can’t be your end game. At its core, freelancing is trading…

Every day is a day to start over.

Life is weird.

These times are weird.

One moment, we could feel on top of the world, living our best lives. The next, it could feel like things are falling apart. Some of us are just picking up the pieces of our lives from a pandemic that shows no signs of slowing down.

We would have lost loved ones, lost our jobs, our business, and even key relationships. The good thing is that we have life. As long as we’re alive and breathing, we have the opportunity to change. …

You have so much to offer to the world and you’re only living a fraction of life if it’s only governed by money.

I think I’ve fallen in love with about three women in my life. The first one never knew — rather that’s what I told myself. Women always know.

We were teenagers and went to school together. We hit it off as soon as we met. We were inseparable. A few of my classmates — friends to this day — encouraged me to make a move.

I was quick to let them know that it was not happening. We were just friends. But deep down, that’s not how I felt.

I didn’t want to make a move because my teenage years…

Set yourself up for success

A decision, by definition, is not focusing on one thing but removing the possibility of everything else. When I started freelancing, it wasn’t a decision. I still had one foot out of the door. I was still looking for other opportunities. And when came — a job in management — I took it.

A few months into the job, I realized that it wasn’t working for me despite the money and security. At that point, I made a decision. I forgot about everything else, and I went all-in on freelancing. …

They’re going to get rid of you anyway.

Jay-Z has a sobering verse on Coldplay's Lost.

In it, he talks about how people won’t hesitate to switch from being your ally to your enemy.

“With the same sword they knight you, they gon’ Good Night you with,” he raps.

The same thing that brings you up will eventually take you down. The same people that need your help can easily turn on you.

Some of my old co-workers from my first job were recently let go in a wave of job cuts. They were some of the hardest working people there. …

Once you remember these two things, you can deal with any setback that comes your way.

Let’s say you’re going to visit an old friend in another town. Your friend sends you their location, and you pop it into your Maps app and hop into your car. It’s time to hit the road. Your app tells you how long it will take to get there and the route you need to take.

On your way to your friend on the highway, you take the wrong exit.

Your app, in its wisdom, beeps and quickly recalculates your destination. Yeah, you have to make a few extra turns, but in due time, you’re back on the road…

And how you can use it to grow your business.

“I just wanted to call you to say that I’m so glad I met you.”

“Ummm, ok, thanks!”

It was a call on from one of my clients — a dermatologist — on a random Tuesday. I was surprised at first but felt all mushy inside afterward. In the six months, we’ve been working on her website’s SEO (or Search Engine Optimization), she’s been able to double the number of client calls and bookings. When you see results like this, it motivates you to go the extra mile.

The art and science of Search Engine Optimization has been around for…

Work on these three things for 2021 to see some great progress.

I sucked at Math from ages 6–11. I was more of a writer. At 12, I got an amazing teacher who changed my perspective on the subject. He’d constantly show us that Math is everywhere, and it’s crucial to how we live our lives. From there, I was hooked. Now, I don’t hesitate to show my 6-year-old daughter the power of Math, and she seems to be shaping up to be a lot better than I was at her age.

Equations are the biggest Mathematical concept that governs our lives. They are everywhere. You basically take two or more variables…
