A few years ago, I took on a full-time job. The team needed direction, and I could steady the ship in a few short months. The thing with doing your job well is that some leaders feel empowered to give you more work.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the occasional project to diversify your experience. When it turns into multiple projects, with many out of your scope and with no compensation, you begin to feel overwhelmed, overworked and played.
It was the beginning of the end of my time there, really stalling my progress.
There are thousands of people around with similar stories. Others, on the other hand, see no real growth or progress in their respective fields. Or have no real means of making more money in their jobs.
