I have a client that I’ve been writing blog content for over two years. We’ve also done an ebook and we’re planning to do a course soon. His product is centered around ice skating. He often tells me that we work well together because I deeply understand his product.

I have no business writing about ice skating. Why?

  • I’ve never touched a pair of skates before.
  • I’m a Black guy from the Caribbean (talk about the opposite of skating).
  • I only saw my first rink in person last December in New York.

Before this product, all I knew about ice sports was the Jamaican bobsled team from Cool Runnings and the fun we would make of Curling when the Olympics comes on TV. Needless to say, I had to get up to date.

Yes, there are websites with information on ice skating and ice skating products.

Writers can easily spin content to deliver for their clients.

To help this client and for this to make sense, I had to immerse myself in the product.
