Everyone has a favorite action hero. Some like Arnold, others like Stallone or JVCD. Me, personally, I’m a Tom Cruise fan.

I love many of his action films, as corny or repetitive as they seem.

Cultural appropriation aside (looking at you Last Samurai), his stuff just has the formula I’m attracted to.

Edge of Tomorrow is one of my favorites.

It’s like Groundhog Day with aliens.

The world is at war and losing badly. In a battle he had no business being in, Cruise’s character, Major Cage, gets killed in a beach battle and is covered in alien juice.

He wakes up back at the military camp with knowledge of everything that happened up until his death.

Cage is caught in an infinite time loop. Every time he dies, the day starts over. But he’s a bit wiser, better, faster, and stronger. Cage uses the day’s prior knowledge to his advantage, finally getting close enough to figure out how to defeat the enemy.

We’re In Our Own Infinite Loop
